I was glad to see that both of my Senators were signators on this letter, and just finished sending them both an e-mail thanking them for their participation and support.

Every day trauma patients lives are saved as a result of Advanced Trauma Life Support provided by physicians staffing critical access hospitals. One could easily describe the comments of TruthMatters as the unresearched biased opinions of a someone who does not have a care about looking things up. Like so many now in office who sign bills without reading them. Shame on you.

Grounded in review of cost reports, and original assumptions for geographic service areas, changes to CAH reimbursement/funding will occur. No CAH has the capacity to treat trauma patients. Such patients transfer to higher level facilities. Many rural hospitals serve an important but not necessarily vital need, especially when studying out-migration patterns, one could easily describe a CAH as a by-pass hospital. Most in need of care drive past the CAH for a healthcare organization within 20-30 minutes that is better equipped and staffed with a spectrum of physician competencies. 20-30 minutes is the normal drive time for a person living in a suburban/ urban area.

BO probably feels a lack of support in areas that have critical access hospitals, therefore he is willing to throw us under the bus. Let your Senators and Representitives know the death this will cause members of your community who will loose access to timely emergency medical and trauma care.
